How app reminders work
Last updated: 21 May 2026
Kids AI Mentor uses local notifications on your phone — not marketing push from our servers. After you enable reminders and open the app once, your device’s operating system delivers them at the scheduled times, even when the app is closed.
What you can control (Settings → Reminders)
- Master switch — turn all reminders on or off
- Daily reminder time — used for categories set to “Once daily” or “Daily + task times”
- Per category frequency — for Chores, Study, Exercise, Self-Care, Creative, Helping:
- Off — no reminders for that category
- Once daily — one nudge at your chosen time if tasks exist today
- At task time — morning / afternoon / evening based on each task
- Daily + task times — both of the above
- Pending habit nudges — optional global check-ins (default: noon, 6pm, 9pm)
- Single task completion — optional push when one habit is marked done
- All tasks complete — optional push when every task for the day is finished
Admin-configured wording
Reminder titles and messages are loaded from our server configuration when the app starts (so we can improve copy without an app store update). Scheduling still happens on your device; we do not receive a log each time a reminder fires.
Permissions
The app asks for notification permission through iOS/Android. You can revoke it anytime in system settings.
